Missed Deviations!


Sorry, between being gone and DA mysteriously losing Deviations, I have missed many great images this past few days.

Had to go to the big city this morning to locate a current edition of the Literary Market Place. (The one in our library is 2004!!!) So nice they have websites listed. But I have a full list of reviewers, magazines & such that do excerpts, library distributors, etc.
And really wild to think that Dancing Lemur Press will also be listed in either 2009 or 2010!

Also in the process of setting up as a LLC. I went to our local Small Business Center at the Community College this week for assistance with the process. Turns out, that person also sets all the seminars now at the college - and I'll be doing three next spring! Talk about a surprise blessing!

If you are intent on setting up an LLC, I suggest you set it up and tax it as a schedule C sole proprietorship instead of as a partnership or corporation at least until it actually makes a profit. For the most part and in most instances, they are unnecessary from a liability point of view and cost the owner more in accounting and tax return fees. They are good for long term losses to pass them through to you without getting into the whole IRS do you intend to make a profit thing.

I am setting it up to have pass-through tax status as an LLC. My main reason for the LLC is to keep personal assets safe - and keep from losing the house should someone sue. (Since I will be taking on other authors, I will need to protect myself, although their liability will be stated in the contract they sign with Dancing Lemur Press.)
I've operated Wolfe Rock Enterprises for over 12 years. Only bummer is our accountant moved to N Dakota and we need to locate someone here in NC for next year!
